MHA Reshuffles AGMUT Cadre: 49 IAS and IPS Officers Transferred to Delhi, J&K, and BeyondNEW DELHI, Jan 4, 2026: In a significant administrative overhaul, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered the immediate transfer and posting of 49 high-profile officers from the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre.

The official order, approved by the Competent Authority, reassigns 31 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 18 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to vital roles across various regions to enhance governance and security.

This strategic realignment includes senior appointments such as Ashwani Kumar (1992) moving from Delhi to Jammu & Kashmir, and Sanjeev Khirwar (1994) shifting from Ladakh to Delhi. Other key IAS movements involve Saloni Rai (2016) and Santosh D Vaidya (1998) transferring from Jammu & Kashmir to Delhi, while Syed Abid Rashid Shah (2012) moves from the valley to Chandigarh.

The reshuffle also heavily impacts the IPS leadership, with 18 officers receiving new assignments to bolster law enforcement frameworks. Noteworthy shifts include Ajit Kumar Singla (2004) moving to Delhi from Puducherry and Prashant Priya Gautam (2013) transferring from Delhi to Jammu & Kashmir.

Additionally, officers like Rajinder Kumar Gupta (2014) have been moved from Jammu & Kashmir to Puducherry, while Rajiv Ranjan Singh (2010) heads to Chandigarh.

This comprehensive reorganization by the Government of India aims to optimize administrative efficiency and address evolving operational requirements in the Union Territories.
