MHA Promotes Five AGMUT Cadre IPS Officers to DGP Rank

JAMMU, January 30, 2026 — The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has officially sanctioned the promotion of five distinguished IPS officers from the AGMUT cadre to the prestigious rank of Director General of Police (DGP).

According to the formal directive issued by the Ministry, the promotions are set to take effect from February 1, 2026, or from the date the officers assume their respective charges. This high-level administrative reshuffle follows the comprehensive recommendations of a Screening Committee meeting held in December 2025 and has received final approval from the competent authority.

The order specifically names Dr. Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal and David Lalrinsanga for promotion to the DGP rank within Level 16 of the pay matrix.

Furthermore, three additional officers currently serving on Central deputation—Satish Shriramaji Khandare, Rajesh Kumar, and Tsewang Namgyal Kalon—have been granted proforma promotions to the same rank.

,This move is seen as a significant reinforcement of the senior police leadership within the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre, rewarding years of dedicated service in maintaining law and order.
