Mehbooba Mufti urges GOI for urgent relief package as Jammu bears brunt of Natural Disasters

Srinagar 30 August :- Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti, has made an urgent appeal to the Government of India (GOI) for immediate financial assistance in the wake of severe natural disasters hitting the region.

In a post on the social media platform X, Mufti highlighted the “widespread devastation” caused by recent floods, cloudbursts, and landslides, noting that the Jammu division has been “hit the hardest.” She detailed the severe impact, stating that lives have been lost, homes destroyed, critical infrastructure damaged, and countless families have been left with nothing. Emphasizing the need for swift action, the PDP chief demanded that the Centre announce a comprehensive financial relief package on par with the one provided after the devastating 2014 floods.

She specifically called for special attention to be given to Jammu, which she stated has suffered the most, and stressed that a coordinated effort between the Centre and the J&K administration is essential to ensure affected citizens are not left to fend for themselves during the crisis.
