Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra Suspension Enters 12th Day

Katra (V.D) 06 September :- For the 12th consecutive day on Saturday , the sacred journey to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine has been put on hold, with no resumption date in sight as authorities assess the stability of the mountainous paths. The extended closure follows a severe landslide on August 26th that resulted in significant casualties and injuries.

While the Regional Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has not issued an immediate weather alert for the region, forecasts predict potential thunderstorms later in the week. In response to the tragic event, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has established a high-level investigative committee. This group, led by Additional Chief Secretary Shaleen Kabra, is charged with determining the factors that led to the landslide and developing new safety protocols to ensure pilgrim security in the future. They are expected to deliver their findings within a fortnight.
