JAMMU, FEBRUARY 8, 2026 — In a landmark meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) approved a series of high-impact decisions aimed at establishing the shrine as India’s premier spiritual destination.
Key initiatives include the establishment of an international “Shakti Museum” at Natali, Katra, a world-class light-and-sound show, and a documentary highlighting the shrine’s spiritual legacy. To ensure pilgrim safety, the Board doubled the insurance cover from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh per devotee and greenlit the construction of critical infrastructure, such as an exit track at Bhawan and the new Vaishnavi Bhawan.
Beyond spiritual offerings, the Board is prioritizing regional growth by sourcing offerings from local entrepreneurs and self-help groups, launching free NEET coaching for local youth, and spearheading sports development across Jammu.
Furthermore, a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for service providers like ponywallas was approved in line with National Green Tribunal directives, alongside major urban renewal projects to transform Katra into a clean, modern hub.
With the inauguration of new cottages and the launch of improvised “Pouch Prasad,” the Board reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the spiritual experience while driving sustainable community and economic progress for the entire Union Territory.
