UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 02,2025: The Department of Geography, Government College for Women(GCW), Udhampur, recently orchestrated a stimulatingActivity Map Reading Competition centred on the “Drainage of J&K,”providing a platform for intellectual engagement and academic enrichment in the college campus.
The esteemed Principal of the College, Professor Nalini Pathania,graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.In her address, she extended heartfelt congratulations to thevictorious teams and lauded the organizers for their meticulousexecution of the event.
Professor Pathania underscored thesignificance of extracurricular activities in holistic education,urging students to actively participate in such endeavours.The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from studentspursuing a multidisciplinary course in the 3rd semester. Four groupswere formed from these students: Team Chenab emerged triumphant,securing the coveted first position, while Team Jhelum demonstrated commendable prowess, earning the second position. The otherparticipating groups were Team Ravi and Team Indus.The esteemed panel of judge comprised Dr. Swati Dutt, whose expertiseensured a fair and rigorous evaluation process.
Professor Pooja Bharti, Head of the Department of Geography,acknowledging the participants’ dedication and enthusiasm. She adeptlymanaged the proceedings of the program and expressed gratitude to allcontributors. Their presence underscored the institution’scollaborative spirit and commitment to academic excellence.
