Major Weapons Haul in Samba: Arms and Ammunition Recovered Near Border in Ghagwal

SAMBA, January 10, 2026: In a significant security breakthrough, the Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered a cache of sophisticated arms and ammunition in the border village of Paloora, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.

Acting on specific inputs, a police team conducted a search operation and discovered a suspicious wrapped packet. Upon unwrapping the consignment in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, security forces seized two high-end pistols—one 9mm “Star” marking pistol made in China with two magazines and a 9mm “Glock” pistol made in Austria with one magazine.

The recovery also included one Chinese-made hand grenade (marked SPL HGR 84) and 16 live rounds of 9mm ammunition.The recovery is seen as a major success in thwarting potential cross-border threats or militant activities in the Samba district.

Following the seizure, the police have taken the entire consignment into their possession for further investigation. Security agencies are currently investigating the origin of the packet and whether it was dropped via drone or smuggled across the border to be picked up by local associates.

A case has been registered, and a massive search operation has been launched in the surrounding border areas to ensure no other consignments are hidden in the vicinity.
