SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 24: Security forces achieved a significant breakthrough on Wednesday by uncovering a hidden cache of explosives and ammunition in the dense forest area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Acting on a precise intelligence tip-off, a joint team of security personnel launched a targeted search operation in the Shalebuth forest, located in the Kreeri region. During the intensive combing exercise, troops discovered a concealed terrorist hideout established beneath a tree, which was being used to store war-like stores intended for subversive activities.
The recovery included a dangerous assortment of weaponry, specifically four Chinese-made hand grenades, 19 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) rounds, and 46 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition. Officials stated that the timely recovery has successfully thwarted potential attempts by anti-national elements to carry out attacks in the district.
Following the seizure, the area was further sanitized to ensure no other caches remained hidden. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to identify the individuals or groups responsible for establishing the hideout and transporting the illegal consignment into the forest.
