Major Police Shake-up in Jammu & Kashmir: LG Orders Transfer and Posting of 82 Officers
SRINAGAR, April 02, 2026 — In a significant administrative overhaul, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir’s Home Department issued a massive reshuffle order today affecting 82 high-ranking police officers.
By order of the Lieutenant Governor, the transfers include several Deputy Inspectors General (DIG), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSP), and other senior officials, effective immediately.The reshuffle at the DIG level sees Tejinder Singh moved to IGP CID, while Sarah Rizvi takes over as IGP Crime J&K.
Other key DIG movements include Shahid Mehraj Rather to Director Police Telecommunication, Shridhar Patil Daulu to DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Haseeb-Ur-Rehman to DIG Traffic Kashmir, Nisha Nathyal to DIG IR Jammu, Vinod Kumar to DIG North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman to DIG Armed Kashmir, Shiv Kumar Sharma to DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Sargun to DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, Sandeep Wazir to DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Anita Sharma to DIG CD & SDRF Jammu, and Jatinder Singh Johar to DIG HQ.
Notably, Swarn Singh Kotal has been posted as Director SSF, with the post declared equivalent in rank to DIG.The reorganization also heavily impacts District and Unit leadership at the SSP level.
Amod Nagpure Ashok has been posted as SSP Anantnag, while Amritpal Singh moves to SSP Udhampur. Anuj Kumar takes charge as SSP Samba, Sudhanshu Dhama as SSP Ganderbal, and Bisma Qazi as SSP Tech CID HQ.
Other major SSP postings include Deepika as SSP CTFD CID HQ, Sukant Shalija Ballabh as SSP Security Jammu, Kamal Pal Singh Malhotra as SSP Finger Print Bureau, Kartik Shrotriya as SSP Doda, Mukund Tibrewal as SSP Reasi, Hariprasad K.K. as SSP Budgam, Vaibhav Meena as SP South Jammu, Neha Jain as SP East Srinagar, Shamsher Hussain as SSP PCR Jammu, Virinder Singh Manhas as Commandant 4 JKAP, Sandeep Kumar Mehta as Commandant 24 IR, and Amit Gupta as SSP CID SB Jammu.
Further assignments include Mohd Majid Malik as Commandant 10 IR, Mohd Yousif as SSP Security Civil Secretariat, Ravinder Paul Singh as Commandant 4 IR, Khalil Ahmad Poswal as SSP Ganderbal (joining April 30), Liaqat Ali as SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Girdhari Lal as SSP HQ CID, Suneel Raj as SSP APCR Jammu, Rajinder Kumar Katoch as Commandant 1 IR, Paramvir Singh as Commandant 1 Border Bn, Dushyant Sharma as Commandant 15 IR, Sajad Khaliq Bhat as SSP Security Kashmir, Dawood Ayoub as SSP CID CI Kashmir, Perbeet Singh as SSP CID CI Jammu, and Tahir Ashraf Bhatti as SSP SIA Kashmir.
The order, signed by Principal Secretary Chandraker Bharti, also details numerous postings for Additional SPs and Deputy Commandants to streamline field operations across the Union Territory.
Among the final notable changes, Sourabh Prashar has been appointed as Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to the Lieutenant Governor, replacing Ravinder Singh, who has been posted as SP Rural Jammu.
