Major Narcotics Seizure in Tripura: Assam Rifles and DRI Recover ₹16 Crore Worth of Yaba Tablets
TELIAMURA, TRIPURA | April 11, 2026 — In a decisive strike against the regional narcotics trade, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), successfully intercepted a massive shipment of illegal drugs in the Khowai District of Tripura.
Acting on precise intelligence, security forces launched a joint operation that led to the interception of a Mahindra pick-up vehicle.
A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of approximately 2 lakh Yaba tablets, a potent synthetic stimulant, with an estimated market value of ₹16 crore.
During the operation, authorities apprehended 44-year-old Raju Deb, a resident of West Tripura, who was allegedly transporting the contraband. This high-value seizure marks a significant breakthrough in disrupting the drug supply chain across the sensitive border state.
Following the successful bust, the apprehended individual, the seized vehicle, and the entire cache of narcotics were handed over to the DRI for comprehensive legal proceedings and further investigation into the wider trafficking network.
