Major Fire Breaks Out in Five Oil Tankers at Jammu’s Narwal; Swift Action Averts Massive Disaster

JAMMU, April 1, 2026 — A major tragedy was narrowly avoided in the Narwal area of Jammu on Wednesday after five parked oil tankers were engulfed in a sudden blaze.

According to authorities, the fire initially broke out in a single vehicle and rapidly spread to four adjacent tankers, threatening to escalate into a massive conflagration given the industrial nature of the location.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the scene immediately upon receiving the alert, successfully containing the flames before they could spread to nearby structures or additional vehicles.

Speaking on the incident, Dr. Sachit Sharma, SDPO East Jammu, stated that while the fire caused significant damage to the five vehicles, the swift response of the fire brigade was instrumental in preventing a larger catastrophe.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched an official investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and to verify whether the tankers were carrying fuel at the time of the incident.

Authorities are currently scanning the area and recording statements to rule out any foul play or mechanical negligence that led to the outbreak.
