Major Drug Bust in Udhampur: Two Inter-District Smugglers Arrested with Heroin at Tikri Checkpoint

UDHAMPUR, January 31, 2026 — As part of an ongoing crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Udhampur Police successfully neutralized an inter-district drug smuggling attempt at the Tikri naka. Acting on routine traffic surveillance, a specialized team from the Tikri Police Post intercepted a Srinagar-bound Alto vehicle (Registration No. JK01C-0054TC) arriving from Jammu.

While the driver was identified as Shahid Latief of Doligam, police suspicion turned toward the two passengers in the rear seat, identified as Sahaam Sultan Rah and Rouf Nazir Wani, both residents of Srinagar.The operation reached a breakthrough when a targeted personal search of the two passengers led to the recovery of 35.20 grams of heroin. Both suspects were promptly arrested, and the contraband was seized.

Following the bust, the Rehambal Police Station formally registered FIR No. 21/2026 under the stringent Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act. Authorities have launched a deep-dive investigation to trace the origin of the consignment and identify potential associates in the wider smuggling network.
