Major Drug Bust in Srinagar: Narcotics Smuggler Arrested with 1 Kg of Heroin at MunwarabadSRINAGAR, JAN 18: In a major breakthrough for the Srinagar Police’s ongoing anti-narcotics campaign, a suspected drug peddler was apprehended with a significant haul of high-grade heroin late Saturday evening.
The arrest took place during a strategic checkpoint operation in the Munwarabad area, where vigilant officers intercepted an individual acting suspiciously. Upon a thorough search, police recovered one kilogram of heroin from his possession, a seizure with a high street value that marks a significant blow to the local narcotics trade.
The senior police official identified the accused as Fayaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hussain and a resident of Ichgam, Budgam. Following the recovery, the Khanyar Police Station officially took the suspect into custody and registered a formal case under Sections 8/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities have launched an extensive investigation to trace the origin of the contraband and uncover any potential links to wider drug trafficking networks operating within Central Kashmir.
