Mahashivratri Celebrated with Spiritual Fervor and Devotion Across Poonch District

POONCH, Feb 15, 2026 — The auspicious festival of Mahashivratri was celebrated with profound spiritual energy and communal harmony throughout the Poonch district, as thousands of devotees gathered at the revered Shiv Khori Temple to offer prayers.

The atmosphere remained vibrant as men, women, and children in colorful traditional attire participated in the festivities, supported by local food stalls that enhanced the celebratory spirit along the shrine route.

Marking the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma joined high-ranking officials, including 93 Infantry Brigade Commander Sachindra Joshi, Commanding Officer of 12 Bihar Vipan, Senior Superintendent of Police Shafket Hussain Bhat, and Additional SP Mohan Lal, to perform a traditional Havan and seek blessings for national peace and prosperity.

During his interaction with pilgrims, the Deputy Commissioner extended warm greetings and highlighted that such sacred festivals underscore the region’s rich composite culture, effectively strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and mutual respect across all sections of society.
