CHANDIGARH, Feb 8: To inspire and groom the next generation of military leaders, 50 students from the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) conducted an educational visit to the Kharga Sappers training facility.
The visit was designed to provide these armed forces aspirants with a firsthand look at the technical and operational capabilities of the Indian Army’s engineer regiments, bridging the gap between classroom preparation and field reality.
During the session at the Kharga Sapper Training Area, the cadets were introduced to a variety of specialized military environments. A key highlight was the demonstration at the Containerised Indoor Shooting Range (CISR), where students observed modern marksmanship training techniques.
Furthermore, the aspirants were given an extensive briefing on advanced engineer equipment and took a guided tour of the Western Command Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) School, gaining insight into the Army’s specialized defense protocols against non-conventional threats.
The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s ongoing commitment to nurturing future officers by providing them with high-tech exposure and practical knowledge.
By engaging with active-duty personnel and witnessing the “Kharga Sappers” in action, the AFPI students were able to experience the discipline and technical expertise required to join the Indian Armed Forces, further strengthening their resolve to serve the nation.
