Machail Mata Saved Me”: Devotee Survives Six-Hour Ordeal After Chishoti Cloud Burst
Udhampur 15th August :- In a miraculous tale of faith and survival, Subash Chander, a resident of Ward No. 13 near District Hospital Udhampur, survived after being trapped for six hours under debris following a devastating cloud burst in Chishoti, Paddar, Kishtwar district. The calamity claimed multiple lives and left many buried under rubble, but Chander, a devout follower of Shri Machail Mata, credits his survival to divine intervention.
Recounting the traumatic incident, Chander revealed he was serving langar (community meal) when disaster struck. “We were four or five people in a nearby hall when we heard a thunderous noise,” he said. “Within seconds, a massive wave of mud, boulders, and trees crashed into the building.” While he and three others managed to flee moments before the structure collapsed, the force of the landslide trapped him beneath the wreckage.
Miraculously, rescue teams arrived within an hour and, after relentless efforts in the treacherous terrain of Chishoti—a key route of the Machail Mata Yatra—pulled him out alive. Chander received first aid before being rushed to a nearby hospital. Choked with emotion, he attributed his survival to his unwavering devotion. “I’ve been visiting Machail Mata since 1994, and it has always been safe. This time, disaster struck, but Mata’s grace saved me,” he said, recalling how he chanted her name while trapped. Grieving for those who perished, he added, “I pray for the departed souls and hope their families find strength to bear this loss.” As rescue operations continue and the death toll rises, Chander’s miraculous escape has reignited faith among devotees, reinforcing their belief in the protective power of Shri Machail Mata. Authorities are intensifying relief efforts as devastated families await news of their missing loved ones.
