Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Relinquishes Southern Command to Assume Role as Vice Chief of Army Staff

PUNE, March 31, 2026 — Marking a significant transition in the Indian Army’s top leadership, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, officially relinquished his appointment as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command today.

On his final day in command, the General paid a solemn tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the Southern Command War Memorial, followed by a formal review of the Guard of Honour at the Command Headquarters.

In a poignant farewell message to all ranks, the outgoing Army Commander emphasized the critical need to maintain a sharp operational edge by accelerating technology absorption and refining warfighting competencies to excel in modern multi-domain operations.

Highlighting the vision for a future-ready force, Lieutenant General Seth lauded the dedication of his personnel before preparing to take over his new prestigious assignment as the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) effective April 1, 2026.
