Lt Gen Amit Kabthiyal Takes Charge of Vajra Corps as Lt Gen Ajay Chandpuria Bids Farewell

JALANDHAR April 1, 2026 — In a high-profile change of command ceremony, Lieutenant General Ajay Chandpuria, AVSM, VSM, officially handed over the leadership of the prestigious Vajra Corps to Lieutenant General Amit Kabthiyal, YSM, SM, today.

During his farewell address to all ranks, Lt Gen Chandpuria expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering professionalism and trust displayed by the personnel, which were instrumental in achieving operational excellence during his tenure.

He urged the Corps to sustain its rigorous standards of combat readiness and continue its vital contributions toward nation-building. Having led the formation since July 2024, Lt Gen Chandpuria’s leadership was defined by a series of strategic successes, most notably the swift and coordinated execution of Operation SINDOOR and Operation RAHAT.

His period at the helm was characterized by a purposeful transformation, emphasizing enhanced military-civil fusion and seamless jointness across the operational spectrum.
