LPG Price Hike 2026: Domestic Cooking Gas Up by ₹60 and Commercial Cylinders Rise by ₹115
NEW DELHI, March 07, 2026 — Household budgets and commercial operations across India are facing a sharp increase as the prices for Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) surged today, March 7.
The cost of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has been hiked by ₹60 nationwide, bringing the new rate in Delhi to ₹913, up from the previous ₹853. Other major metros saw similar spikes, with Mumbai rates reaching ₹912.50, Chennai at ₹928.50, and Kolkata rising to ₹939. Commercial users, including hotels and restaurants, face a steeper burden as 19-kg commercial cylinders jumped by ₹115, with prices in Delhi now standing at ₹1,883 and in Chennai at ₹2,043.50.
This revision marks the first significant change for domestic consumers since April 2025. Despite the price hike, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and Indian Oil Corporation have reassured the public that there is no shortage of fuel or energy in the country.
Government sources emphasized that India is in a “very comfortable position” regarding stocks, bolstered by diversified imports—including a substantial 20% share of crude from Russia and new LPG contracts from the US Gulf Coast—effectively insulating the domestic market from potential supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
