LoP Sunil Sharma Accuses NC of ‘Employment Scam’ and Political Deception Over Article 370

SRINAGAR, Feb 21: Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP), Sunil Sharma, launched a scathing attack on the ruling National Conference (NC) Saturday, accusing the party of betraying the youth and employing “double standards” in governance.

Addressing a mega joining programme at the SKICC in Srinagar, Sharma alleged that the government had bypassed transparent recruitment processes by outsourcing 24,000 jobs to a private firm. He claimed these posts were filled without open advertisements or competitive exams, effectively depriving deserving local candidates of livelihood opportunities.

Warning of widespread protests if the decision isn’t reversed, the LoP demanded full public disclosure regarding the recruitment mechanism and the private entity involved.Beyond employment issues, Sharma hit out at the NC’s political narrative, asserting that Article 370 is “history” and will never be restored, despite the party’s election promises.

He challenged the government to provide a constitutional basis for the “special status” they frequently reference, describing it as a misleading term used to confuse voters.

Accusing the Abdullah family of political opportunism, Sharma pointed out that while the NC leadership criticizes the BJP publicly, they have a historical track record of aligning with the party for power.

He further criticized the government’s failure to deliver on its promise of 200 units of free electricity, alleging that the administration is now trying to take credit for existing central schemes instead of fulfilling its own commitments.
