Live Mortar Shell Recovered During Road Construction in Bandi Chechian, Poonch

POONCH, DECEMBER 28: Panic gripped a local neighborhood in the Haveli tehsil today after an old, rusted live mortar shell was unearthed during routine road construction work. The explosive device was discovered at approximately 1730 hours near the Resident,located in the Bandi Chechian area.

Workers immediately halted operations and alerted the local authorities upon spotting the dangerous object buried beneath the surface.Recognizing the potential risk to the densely populated residential pocket, the local police and administration cordoned off the site to ensure public safety.

Following standard operating procedures for the recovery of unexploded ordnance (UXO), the concerned nearby Army authorities were promptly informed of the find. A specialized bomb disposal squad is expected to take over the site to safely transport or dispose of the live shell.
