LG Vinai Kumar Saxena Orders Infrastructure Overhaul in Leh; Aims for Global Tourism Excellence
LEH, LADAKH — March 15, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena conducted an extensive inspection of Leh Main Market, Old Town Leh, and the Central Asian Museum today to evaluate the status of civic infrastructure and public amenities.
During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor expressed a strong commitment to transforming Leh into the world’s most sought-after tourist destination, emphasizing the need for a clean and organized urban landscape.
He issued immediate directives to officials to repair broken pavements, footpaths, and drainage systems on a priority basis.
To ensure long-term sustainability, Saxena ordered the preparation of a comprehensive one-month action plan focused on sanitation, infrastructure upgrades, and improved urban management.
Interacting with local residents and shopkeepers to hear their grievances firsthand, he assured the community that all developmental issues would be resolved in a time-bound manner to enhance the quality of life for residents and the experience for global travelers.
