LG Suspends IPS Officer Over Alleged Financial Irregularities in Jammu and Kashmir
JAMMU, March 25, 2026: In a significant administrative move, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered the immediate suspension of senior IPS officer Sanjeev Kumar Khajuria. The decision, formalized under Government Order No. 185-Home of 2026, comes in response to serious allegations regarding the misappropriation of General Provident (GP) funds and discrepancies in income tax deductions involving police personnel.
At the time of the alleged irregularities, Khajuria was serving as the Commandant of the JKAP-4 Security Battalion and was currently posted as the Commandant of the 1st Border Battalion, Jammu.
According to the official directive issued by the Home Department, a formal enquiry has been initiated to investigate the financial misconduct.
During the period of his suspension, the officer will remain attached to the Police Headquarters (PHQ), J&K. The order, signed by Principal Secretary Chandraker Bharti, emphasizes that the action is effective immediately to ensure a transparent investigation into the matter.
