LG Manoj Sinha Orders ‘Zero Tolerance’ Policy to Tackle Drug Menace in Jammu & Kashmir

JAMMU, APRIL 01, 2026: In a decisive move to eradicate substance abuse in the Union Territory, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has officially directed the implementation of a ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy against the drug menace.

While chairing a high-level security and administrative meeting at Lok Bhavan, the Lieutenant Governor engaged with Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), and top-tier officials to outline a rigorous roadmap for a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.

Emphasizing that the fight against drug abuse is a top priority for the administration, he called for a multi-pronged strategy that balances aggressive law enforcement with compassionate rehabilitation.

During the session, the Lieutenant Governor underscored the need to dismantle sophisticated trafficking networks through strengthened grassroots intelligence and coordinated, stringent action against smugglers.

Beyond enforcement, the strategy focuses on intensive mass awareness campaigns designed to deter the youth and the establishment of robust treatment and counseling facilities to aid in long-term rehabilitation.

“We need a collective mechanism to safeguard our youth and ensure a healthy future for the region,” LG Sinha remarked, urging officials to view the mission as a moral and social imperative.To catalyze this effort, the meeting detailed a dedicated three-month intensive campaign under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan framework.

The Lieutenant Governor exhorted senior leadership to lead from the front, stressing that the campaign’s success depends on transforming it into a genuine “people’s movement” by involving stakeholders from every section of society.

The high-profile meeting saw the attendance of Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, and other senior officers from the Home Department, CID, and divisional administration, all of whom are tasked with the immediate execution of these directives.
