LG Manoj Sinha Orders Reopening of Major Tourist Destinations Across Jammu and Kashmir Following Security Review

SRINAGAR, J&K — In a significant boost to regional tourism, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced today via the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that several high-profile tourist destinations across both the Kashmir and Jammu Divisions are to be reopened immediately.

The decision follows a comprehensive security review and high-level discussions aimed at balancing public safety with the revival of local travel.

Effective immediately, eleven prominent sites in the Kashmir Division—including the scenic meadows of Yousmarg and Doodhpathri in Budgam, the vibrant Tulip Garden and Astanpora in Srinagar, and the breathtaking Thajwas Glacier in Ganderbal—have been cleared for visitors.

In the Jammu Division, three key locations, including Devi Pindi in Reasi and Mughal Maidan in Kishtwar, have also been reopened to the public.

The Lieutenant Governor further clarified that while most restrictions have been lifted, four additional sites—Gurez, Athwatoo, and Bangus in Kashmir, along with Ramkund in Ramban—remain temporarily inaccessible due to heavy snow accumulation and will be reopened to tourists as soon as the routes are cleared.
