LG Manoj Sinha Orders 30-Day Crackdown on Drug Peddlers, Launches People’s Movement in Kathua

Kathua, April 13:-Highlighting an unyielding resolve to secure the future of the youth, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today launched a massive people’s movement against narcotics, directing police officials to prepare lists of “Top Drug Peddlers” at every station and dismantle their networks within a strict 30-day window.

Addressing a large public rally at the Sports Stadium in Kathua, the Lieutenant Governor flagged off a Padyatra under the “Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan,” emphasizing that the next three months will serve as a foundational period for lasting change through a six-phased, 100-day roadmap.

He underscored a dual approach of ruthless enforcement and compassionate rehabilitation, asserting that while traffickers will face the full weight of the law, victims of addiction must be treated as patients deserving of empathy and accessible, humane support.

To cripple the operations of drug syndicates, the Lieutenant Governor announced a groundbreaking Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that includes revoking the passports, driving licenses, Aadhaar cards, and arms licenses of smugglers.

Furthermore, under the NDPS Act, the administration will move to freeze bank accounts, launch exhaustive financial probes, and confiscate all movable and immovable assets belonging to perpetrators.

Calling for a “people’s revolution,” Sinha urged women’s self-help groups to form Women Vigilance Squads to monitor and report local drug-related activities, ensuring that every panchayat and alley remains under surveillance.

He concluded by administering an anti-drug pledge and launching the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Anthem, reinforcing his unbreakable pledge to build a territory where the energy of the youth illuminates the world rather than being extinguished by the menace of drugs.
