LG Manoj Sinha Launches 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to Accelerate Tuberculosis Elimination in Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu March 24, 2026 — On World Tuberculosis Day, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha officially launched the “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan-100 Days Campaign” at the Convention Centre in Jammu.
This nationwide initiative, originally introduced by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, seeks to fast-track the eradication of tuberculosis through intensified, technology-driven, and community-led interventions.
Sinha emphasized that the campaign must transcend administrative duties to become a genuine “people’s movement” across Jammu and Kashmir.
He called upon health departments, district administrations, and citizens to collaborate in positioning the Union Territory as a national leader in the drive toward a TB-free future. The 100-day roadmap integrates cutting-edge technology to reach the most vulnerable populations.
AI-enabled portable X-ray tools will be deployed to bring diagnostic services directly to tribal hamlets, migrant camps, and urban slums. Furthermore, mobile medical units known as “Ni-Kshay Vans” will provide on-the-go care, while Ayushman health camps will offer a comprehensive battery of tests, including NAAT diagnostics, blood sugar monitoring, and BMI checks.
Sinha remarked that detecting the disease is only half the battle; the true challenge lies in “walking beside the patient” through the entire recovery process, a goal facilitated by the Ni-Kshay Mitra program which provides nutritional and emotional support to those in treatment.During the event, Sinha flagged off the Ni-Kshay vehicles and distributed Poshan kits to beneficiaries.
He also honored the districts of Doda and Srinagar for their achievement in establishing “TB Mukt Panchayats.” To ensure the campaign’s success, the Lieutenant Governor directed officials to involve self-help groups, students, schools, industries, and NGOs to amplify awareness.
He stressed that testing and treatment are entirely free, urging health workers to trek into the most remote mountain paths to ensure no case goes unnoticed.
The ceremony concluded with a collective Ni-Kshay pledge, joined by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and other senior officials, reaffirming the commitment that no individual in Jammu and Kashmir should lose their future to this preventable disease.
