Srinagar 21 September :- As a part of the on-going ‘Sewa Parv’ initiative, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, joined an on-site cleanliness drive at the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar.
At the event, the LG made it a point to emphasize the impressive work that had been accomplished in the restoration and conservation of the Dal and Nigeen lakes in the last five years, adding that it was all done in a focused “mission mode.”
He bragged that the efforts had shown returns, and the Dal Lake was now visibly cleaner and, as a result, welcoming more domestic as well as overseas tourists. Expounding on the success, LG Sinha disclosed that over one-third of the lake has been rejuvenated successfully.
Large stretches of water that were earlier choked with exotic water lilies have been cleared, and for the first time, this has raised the open area of the Dal Lake over 20.3 square kilometers.
LG issued a passionate call to action to all citizens to participate proactively in maintaining the lakes, rivers, and other essential water bodies of the region through sustained community efforts.
