LG Manoj Sinha Inaugurates National Sports Conference ‘SRIJAN’ in Jammu to Boost Athletic Culture

JAMMU, January 17, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha officially inaugurated “SRIJAN,” a two-day National Level Sports Conference organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in Jammu today. Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that sports serve as a vital force for nation-building and a “real-life school” for youth to learn discipline, leadership, and core values.

He called for the deep integration of sports into the educational curriculum to ensure the holistic development of the younger generation, asserting that investing in sports is an investment in the country’s future destiny.The conference aims to establish actionable strategies to strengthen the sports ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir while preparing a roadmap for the effective implementation of the National Sports Policy 2025 and the J&K Sports Policy 2022.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha stressed the importance of keeping sports strictly separate from politics to nurture talent in a peaceful environment and ensure a transparent selection process. He also highlighted the need for special encouragement for women in sports and the development of grassroots infrastructure to transform India into a global sporting powerhouse.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and Olympic medalist Karnam Malleswari, along with various sports experts and enthusiasts.
