JAMMU, FEBRUARY 01, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has lauded the Union Budget 2026-27 as a pragmatic and transformative financial roadmap designed to accelerate India’s journey toward becoming a $5 trillion economy within the next few years. Describing the budget as a balance between ambitious growth and social welfare, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized its core focus on manufacturing, infrastructure, and the empowerment of youth, women, and farmers.

He noted that the strategic emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, semiconductor advancement through ISM 2.0, and the creation of specialized rare earth zones would significantly reduce import reliance while strengthening India’s global competitive edge.

The Lieutenant Governor expressed particular gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the focus on developing ecologically sustainable mountain trails in Jammu and Kashmir.

He highlighted that this specific initiative is poised to invigorate the Union Territory’s tourism sector and generate fresh employment opportunities for the local population.

By prioritizing MSMEs, healthcare, and urban advancement, Sinha believes the budget establishes a solid foundation for comprehensive sectoral expansion, ensuring that India remains on track to achieve developed economy status in less than two decades while maintaining steady domestic production and job creation.
