Srinagar 17th August :- Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives in devastating rain-triggered landslides that struck several areas of Kathua.
Describing the tragedy as “mind-numbing,” Sinha stated that he had briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the ongoing rescue and relief operations involving the Army, NDRF, SDRF, local police, and civil administration. The LG has directed senior officials to coordinate efforts, expedite aid distribution, and ensure immediate medical assistance for the affected.
“My thoughts are with the bereaved families, and I pray for the swift recovery of the injured,” Sinha said in a statement. Authorities are working to assess the full extent of the damage as heavy rains continue to pose challenges in the region.
