LG Manoj Sinha Chairs 9th BGSBU Executive Council Meeting; Calls for Innovation-Led Education

JAMMU, January 11, 2026Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired the 9th Executive Council meeting of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, at Lok Bhavan today, emphasizing a visionary shift toward “educating for tomorrow.”

Addressing a high-level assembly of academic leaders and senior officials—including Vice Chancellors from Jammu and Kashmir Universities and Principal Secretary Mandeep K. Bhandari—the Lieutenant Governor underscored that the future of the nation is forged within university campuses.

He urged the council to reimagine traditional education by designing a curriculum that inspires cutting-edge research and innovation, specifically directing the university to integrate advanced courses in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and emerging digital technologies to meet the evolving career aspirations of the next generation.

During the session, the Executive Council granted in-principle approval to several key academic and administrative reforms aimed at transforming BGSBU into a premier center of excellence.

The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of institutional accountability and skill-centric learning, while also highlighting the university’s role in addressing localized issues within tribal areas.

He directed authorities to ensure ample opportunities for tribal students and to modernize university operations through the full implementation of the e-office system.

To maintain consistent progress, the Lieutenant Governor ordered that Executive Council meetings be held every six months and that preparations for the university convocation be fast-tracked.

Marking a significant boost to the university’s infrastructure, the Lieutenant Governor also laid the e-foundation stones for several major projects funded under PM-USHA (Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan).

These developments include a new Girls Hostel for nursing students, a modern main entrance gate, an Indoor Games Complex, and a 1 MW Rooftop Solar Power Plant.

By focusing on both digital modernization and physical expansion, the meeting set a strategic roadmap for BGSBU to enhance its student enrollment and play a pivotal role in shaping the intellectual and economic future of the region.
