LG Manoj Sinha Advocates for Jammu Kashmir as a Global Art Hub at Kesar Art Circle Golden Jubilee
JAMMU, January 12, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha called for a collective effort to transform Jammu Kashmir’s cultural and spiritual heritage into a global artistic center during the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Kesar Art Circle at Kala Kendra.
Addressing a gathering of prominent artists and officials, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that art serves as a vital bridge for connecting diverse cultures and reviving the region’s ancient spiritual legacy.
He underscored that the preservation of sacred heritage is the essential foundation upon which the future of the Union Territory must be built.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor felicitated Bhushan Kesar, a renowned painter and the founder of the Kesar Art Circle, praising his decades of dedication to nurturing thousands of artists who have achieved international acclaim.
Highlighting the role of creators as the “conscience of society,” he noted that art forms like painting and sculpture are not mere luxuries but transformative forces that shape societal thought and progress. He urged the younger generation to utilize the power of creative expression to maintain their cultural identity while contributing to the broader vision of a developed nation.
The celebration also featured the inauguration of a painting exhibition and the felicitation of several distinguished artists. The Lieutenant Governor concluded by calling upon writers and painters to play an active role in reimagining Jammu Kashmir’s creative horizons, ensuring that the region remains rooted in its history while embracing new artistic possibilities.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, including Principal Secretary Culture Brij Mohan Sharma and various representatives from the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
