LG Ladakh Meets Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla; Proposes ISRO Exposure Trips for Youth
LEH, LADAKH April 07,2026 — In a move to bolster scientific curiosity among the youth of the Himalayas, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, held a high-profile meeting with Indian astronaut, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, at the Lok Niwas in Ladakh.
The meeting centered on bridging the gap between India’s frontier space missions and the aspiring students of the region.During their “engaging and fruitful” dialogue, the Lieutenant Governor and Group Captain Shukla discussed the astronaut’s rigorous training and unique experiences in the aerospace sector.
A key outcome of the conversation was the proposal to provide Ladakhi students with direct exposure to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
Saxena outlined plans to facilitate educational visits for local youth to premier space centers in Bengaluru and Trivandrum, aiming to provide them with a firsthand look at the nation’s technological advancements.Concluding the visit, LG Saxena extended a standing invitation to Group Captain Shukla to return to Ladakh frequently for regular interactions and idea exchanges with the local community.
By fostering these connections, the LG hopes to motivate young minds in the Union Territory to “aim for the sky” and pursue ambitious careers in science and exploration.
