LG Ladakh Kavinder Gupta Flags Off Rashtriya Ekatmata Yatra 2026; 30 Students Set for ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ Tour

LEH February 26, 2026 — In a major move to bolster national integration and cultural exchange, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, officially flagged off a cohort of 30 students for the Rashtriya Ekatmata Yatra 2026 from Lok Niwas, Leh.

This 13-day educational odyssey, organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in collaboration with the Vidyarthi Sewa Trust, falls under the Student Experience in Regional Understanding (SERU) initiative.

The group, comprising 11 girls and 19 boys from premier local institutions like the University of Ladakh and the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, is slated to visit key hubs including Gurugram, Chandigarh, and Jammu.

A standout feature of the program is the “host family” experience, where students will live with local families in different states to gain firsthand insight into India’s diverse traditions, moving beyond standard sightseeing to achieve deep-rooted regional understanding.

During the flag-off ceremony, LG Kavinder Gupta emphasized that the SERU initiative is a vital component of the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” vision, designed to expose Ladakh’s youth to India’s complex administrative and industrial landscapes. The itinerary includes high-profile visits to the Maruti Suzuki plant in Gurugram and the Rashtrapati Bhavan, providing students with a bird’s-eye view of the nation’s governance and economic engine.

The Lieutenant Governor urged the participants to act as “Ambassadors of Ladakh,” sharing the UT’s unique heritage while absorbing the democratic values and professional horizons of other states.

By fostering lifelong friendships and emotional bonds across regional borders, the yatra aims to transform these students into informed contributors to the nation-building process, ensuring that the youth of the frontier region are fully integrated into the country’s progressive mainstream.
