ANANTNAG, DECEMBER 24: Panic erupted at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in the Kapran area of Anantnag on Wednesday morning when a leopard strayed into the high-security premises.
The incident occurred during the early morning hours while personnel were gathered in the mess for breakfast. The wild animal attacked the jawans, causing chaos and leaving one official injured.
The victim, identified as Head Constable Kamlesh Kumar, sustained injuries during the struggle and was immediately evacuated to a nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) for emergency medical attention.Hospital authorities have confirmed that Kamlesh Kumar received prompt treatment and is currently in stable condition.
Following the attack, wildlife officials were alerted to the presence of the leopard within the camp to ensure the safety of the personnel and the surrounding community. This incident highlights the increasing frequency of man-animal conflicts in the forest-fringed areas of South Kashmir.
Local authorities have advised residents and security establishments in the vicinity to remain vigilant and report any further sightings to the wildlife department to prevent similar encounters.
