Ladakh Transformation: LG Vinai Kumar Saxena Applauds Success of Mass Cleanliness Drives Across the UT

LEH, April 5, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, has lauded the remarkable progress of the ongoing mass cleanliness campaigns currently sweeping across the Union Territory.

In a recent statement, the LG highlighted that the mission to clear dust, debris, and garbage from public spaces—which he initiated on March 16, 2026—has gained significant momentum through the synchronized efforts of government agencies and local communities.

This “mission mode” sanitation drive has been particularly visible in District Kargil, where Panchayats such as Chanigund, Nagma Kausar, Wakha, and Stongday have successfully executed large-scale waste removal operations to restore the local landscape.

The cleanliness initiative has also targeted high-traffic zones in Leh, including the areas surrounding the Airport, Lok Niwas, and the Main Market, ensuring that popular tourist hubs meet the highest standards of hygiene.

LG Saxena emphasized that these efforts reflect a deep-rooted collective commitment to environmental sustainability, with the ultimate goal of establishing Ladakh as a premier “clean and green” global tourist destination.

Noting that the visible changes are a testament to the hard work of the residents and administration alike, the LG reiterated that this proactive approach to urban and rural sanitation is essential for the long-term ecological health and aesthetic appeal of the region.
