Ladakh LG Vinai Kumar Saxena Orders Renewal of Long-Pending Land Lease Deeds

LEH, LADAKH April 07,2026 — In a landmark move to enhance land security and governance in the Union Territory, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, has directed the immediate renewal of expired land lease deeds that have been pending for several years.

Announced via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the decision addresses a long-standing demand from the local population, providing much-needed legal clarity and stability regarding land titles for thousands of affected families across the region.

To ensure the process is efficient and transparent, LG Saxena has instructed the Chief Secretary to organize specialized camps dedicated to clearing the backlog of pending cases.

The first of these camps is scheduled to take place on April 15 , where officials will conduct on-site document verification and process license fees.

Successful applicants will receive their renewed lease deeds during the event, signaling a shift toward more responsive and citizen-centric administration.

According to the Lieutenant Governor, this initiative is a significant step in strengthening local governance and ensuring transparency. By resolving these decades-old land tenure issues, the administration aims to provide permanent relief and a sense of security to the people of Ladakh.

LG Saxena reaffirmed that his foremost priority remains a responsive government that prioritizes the welfare and legal rights of its citizens.
