Kupwara Veterans Day 2026: Defense Heroes Pledge Support for Nation Building
KUPWARA, January 14, 2026 — To honor the legacy of Field Marshal KM Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, the Indian Army organized a grand celebration of Defense Forces Veterans’ Day at Drugmulla. Under the theme “From Battlefield to Nation Building: Veterans as Pillars of Progress,” the event served as a powerful tribute to the soldiers who served the country with distinction.
Despite the inclement weather and heavy cold currently gripping the Kashmir Valley, the gathering saw an impressive turnout of 500 veterans and 20 Veer Naris, reflecting the enduring grit and disciplined spirit of the military community.
Deputy Commissioner Shrikant Balasaheb Suse attended as the chief guest, joined by senior officials and gallantry award winners. Beyond the ceremonial tributes, the event functioned as a critical welfare hub, providing first-hand information on government schemes and immediate grievance redressal.
Various specialized stalls were established by the Zila Sainik Board, ECHS, Military Hospital, JAK LI Records, and nationalized banks to offer on-the-spot assistance to attendees.
The Deputy Commissioner felicitated the veterans and Veer Naris, expressing deep gratitude to the war heroes who made the supreme sacrifice and assuring them of the administration’s unwavering support.
In a reciprocal gesture of commitment, the veterans collectively promised to continue their service to the country as active pillars of progress and development.
