KUPWARA, Feb 4, 2026 — Demonstrating exceptional coordination and bravery, the District Administration of Kupwara successfully executed a high-stakes overnight rescue operation to evacuate 35 vehicles stranded at the treacherous Sadna Top amid heavy snowfall.
The mission, led by the Tehsildar of Karnah, involved a collaborative effort between the 109 RCC BEACON, Kupwara Police, and the Indian Army, who battled extreme weather conditions and plummeting temperatures to reach those in distress.
Working tirelessly through the night, the rescue teams managed to clear the path and safely recover all trapped vehicles, including 10 light motor vehicles, ensuring no casualties were reported despite the challenging environment.
The rescued passengers and motorists expressed deep gratitude to the administration and security forces for their rapid response and life-saving intervention, which prevented a potential disaster on the high-altitude pass.
