KULGAM, JANUARY 27, 2026 — Amidst a severe snowstorm gripping the region, the Kulgam Police have earned widespread praise for their swift humanitarian interventions and life-saving rescue missions.
In a critical operation today, a specialized team from the Devsar Police Station responded to an urgent distress call from Guddar village, where a dialysis patient was stranded due to blocked roads.
Braving the intense snowfall, officers successfully navigated the treacherous terrain to evacuate and transport the patient to the District Hospital Kulgam for essential medical treatment.
Further demonstrating their commitment to public safety, police personnel stationed near the Navyug Tunnel intervened when an ambulance carrying a patient became immobilized by slippery, ice-covered roads.
The officers manually pushed the vehicle through the snow, ensuring the patient reached medical care without life-threatening delays. Under the direct supervision of SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS, dedicated assistance teams have been strategically deployed across the National Highway and remote highland areas.
These units remain on high alert to assist motorists stuck in transit and ensure that the harsh winter conditions do not result in the loss of life or prolonged distress for the local population.
