KULGAM, February 13, 2026 — In a major strike against the financial foundations of the narcotics trade, the Jammu & Kashmir Police in Kulgam have attached immovable properties valued at approximately ₹1.5 crore. The seized assets, located in Village Manigam, include six shops, five godowns, a tin shed, and a plinth belonging to Mohd Ashraf Khanday, a resident of Nipora.
The action was executed under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act following a detailed legal investigation which established that the properties were “proceeds of crime” acquired through illicit drug trafficking. Khanday is already a key accused in a previous case (FIR No. 196/2024) related to the illegal trade of contraband.
SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary, IPS, reaffirmed the department’s “zero-tolerance” policy, stating that this attachment is a strategic move to dismantle the economic networks that sustain drug traffickers.
He warned that the police are not only targeting the peddlers themselves but are also conducting deep financial investigations to identify and seize wealth generated through the narcotics trade.
By targeting the assets of those involved in financing or harboring offenders, the Kulgam Police aim to send a definitive message that illegal activities will result in severe financial and legal consequences.
The administration continues to urge the public to share information to help protect the region’s youth from the destructive reach of substance abuse.
