KPDCL Power Shutdown Alert: Multiple Areas in Kashmir to Face Electricity Cuts for Maintenance

SRINAGAR | February 20, 2026 :- The Chief Engineer of Distribution at the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across various districts to facilitate essential maintenance and repairs. Residents in Srinagar should prepare for outages on February 23 from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM, as work on the 33 kV Bemina-Fatehkadal and Bemina-Barbarshah lines will affect KK Mohalla, Nowpora, Bohrikadal, BB Shah, Babademb, Bishembarnagar, Gousia Hospital, Naisarak, Barbarshah, Exchange, Basantbagh, Car Parking, Maisuma Bazar, and surrounding areas. In South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, the 33 KV Kulgam-DH Pora line (Chowalgam onwards) will be offline on February 21 and 23 during the same morning-to-afternoon window, impacting DH Pora, Aharibal, Nagam, DK Marg, Khull, Nillow, Begam, and Sehipora.

Further North, a significant shutdown is scheduled for February 21 affecting the Handwara Hot line, 33 kV Kupwara Old line, and 33 kV Delina-Sopore Tapline. This will result in power interruptions from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM in Marathgam, Chogal, Handwara Town, Kulangam, the entire Lolab and Machil Valleys, Sopore Town, Wagub, Amargarh, and the J&K Bank vicinity. Additionally, consumers fed by the 33 KV Shadimarg Tapline of the Kanipora-Keller line will experience outages on February 21 in Shadimarg, Drabgam, Kalampora, Qasbayar, Abhama, and Sangerwani. The KPDCL advises consumers to plan their activities accordingly during these six-hour maintenance windows to minimize inconvenience.
