KISHTWAR, Jan. 06, 2026:As part of an ongoing and intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, the Kishtwar District Police successfully apprehended a drug peddler today, recovering 211 grams of a charas-like narcotic substance.
The arrest took place during a routine patrol in the Malipeth–Bus Stand area of Kishtwar, marking another victory in the department’s mission to eliminate the drug menace from the region.
The operation was conducted by a team from the Kishtwar Police Station, led by Inspector Firdous Ahmed and assisted by PSI Arush Sharma.
The patrol was carried out under the direct supervision of Additional SP Pardeep Singh Goria and Dy. SP Headquarters Dr. Ishan Gupta. According to SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh, the police party noticed a man acting suspiciously near the Kishtwar Bus Stand.
Upon intercepting and searching the individual, officers discovered the contraband in his possession and took him into custody immediately.The accused has been identified as Mohd Rajab, son of Mohd Anwar Naik and a resident of Sarawan, Keshwan. Following the recovery, authorities registered FIR No. 05/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at the Kishtwar Police Station.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the origin of the narcotics and to identify any potential accomplices involved in the local illegal drug trade.
SSP Naresh Singh reaffirmed that the District Police maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding drug trafficking. He emphasized that law enforcement will remain relentless in its efforts to protect the community and safeguard the youth from the dangers of substance abuse.
