KISHTWAR January 22, 2026 :- A fresh exchange of fire broke out today between security forces and terrorists in the Singhpura area of Chhatroo subdivision, located in the Kishtwar district. This encounter marks a significant escalation in the massive search operation that has been underway for five consecutive days.
According to official sources, security forces established “fresh contact” with the hiding terrorists during a cordoning exercise, leading to an immediate and intense gunbattle.
The operation, which was launched earlier this week following intelligence inputs regarding terrorist movement in the dense forest terrain, remains active as additional reinforcements have been deployed to the area.
While the exchange of fire continues, security agencies have tightened the perimeter to prevent any escape attempts.
