Kathua Police Success: Missing Woman Traced and Reunited with Family in Billawar

KATHUA, DECEMBER 21, 2025: Under the leadership of SSP Kathua, Mohita Sharma (IPS), the Jammu and Kashmir Police achieved a significant breakthrough by successfully tracing a 19-year-old missing lady in the Billawar area.

The case began on December 16, 2025, when the woman’s mother, Naseem Begum, lodged a formal complaint at Police Station Billawar reporting that her daughter, Mumtaz Bano, had gone missing from her residence in Kohag. Acting swiftly, a dedicated search team led by SHO Zaheer Mushtaq and supervised by SDPO Billawar Neeraj Kumar initiated a comprehensive investigation, utilizing a combination of CCTV footage analysis, technical surveillance, and local human intelligence to track the woman’s whereabouts.

Following days of intensive searching across various locations, the police team successfully recovered Mumtaz Bano and brought her safely back to the station. After the completion of all necessary legal formalities and official documentation, she was handed over to her legal heirs. The family expressed their deep gratitude to the Billawar Police for their timely intervention and professional conduct in handling the case.

With the safe recovery of the individual, the official missing person report has been closed, marking another successful operation by the Kathua district police in ensuring the safety and welfare of its citizens.
