Kathua Police Seize Maruti 800 Carrying Illicit Khair Wood Logs in Hiranagar Patrol

Kathua, Mar 27: In a successful anti-smuggling operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua seized a Maruti 800 car laden with illicit Khair wood logs during the intervening night of March 25 and 26.

Acting under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, a dedicated police team from Police Station Hiranagar, led by Inspector Amit Sangra and guided by SP Ops Mukund Tibrewal and SDPO Border Dheeraj Katch, intercepted the vehicle (Registration No. JK02P-6566) during a routine patrol in the Bhaiya area.

Upon inspection, officers discovered 11 logs of Khair wood being transported without the requisite legal permits.Following the interception, the vehicle and the timber were immediately taken into custody.

Since the illegal transportation of forest produce falls under the specialized jurisdiction of the Forest Department, the Kathua Police officially handed over the seized Maruti 800 and the 11 Khair wood logs to forest officials for further legal proceedings and investigation.

This seizure underscores the heightened vigilance of the Kathua Police in curbing the smuggling of forest wealth and protecting the regional ecosystem from illicit trade.
