KATHUA, February 13, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against cross-border narcotics smuggling, the Kathua Police, under the supervision of SSP Mohita Sharma, IPS, has dismantled an inter-state network involved in transporting drone-dropped heroin from Pakistan.
Acting on precise intelligence regarding a drone-dropping incident near the Nagri sector on the Jammu & Kashmir–Punjab border, police launched a swift operation that led to the recovery of approximately 150 grams of heroin.
Using a combination of advanced technical analysis and CCTV footage, investigators first apprehended Jatin, a resident of Manwal, Pathankot. Subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of his accomplice, Danish Dogra (alias Sajan) of Jakhbar, Kathua, effectively exposing the forward linkages of the illicit trade.
Preliminary investigations have unearthed a direct Pakistani connection, revealing that the accused were in constant communication with a Pakistan-based smuggler via Voice over IP (VoIP) calls to coordinate the delivery.
The duo allegedly intended to distribute the contraband among vulnerable youth for significant monetary gain.
Both individuals have been booked under FIR No. 71/2026, facing charges under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kathua.
As the investigation continues to trace the wider network of this smuggling ring, the Kathua Police reaffirmed their resolve to eradicate the drug menace and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement to protect the nation’s youth from the devastating effects of narcotics.
