Kathua Police Arrest Woman with 8.04 Grams of Heroin Near Expressway; Major Strike Against Drug Peddling
KATHUA | April 02, 2026 — In a continued and intensified crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua successfully apprehended a female drug peddler and recovered approximately 8.04 grams of a heroin-like substance, commonly known as “Chitta.”
The operation, carried out under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Mohita Sharma (IPS), took place on April 1, 2026, at Kullian Badala near the Expressway area.
A police team led by PSI Khem Raj, acting on reliable intelligence and guided by Addl. SP Rahul Charak, DySP Hqrs. Ravinder Singh, and SHO Insp. Ashish Sharma, intercepted the suspect during a routine patrol after noticing her moving under suspicious circumstances.
The accused has been identified as Neha, wife of Lakhwinder Singh, originally a resident of Bhogpur, Punjab, currently residing at Chak Drab Khan in the Nagri area of Kathua.
Upon a thorough search, the police team discovered the illicit narcotics in her possession, leading to her immediate arrest on the spot.
Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered at Police Station Kathua under Case FIR No. 158/2026, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act.
As investigations continue to trace the broader supply chain, the Kathua Police have reiterated their appeal to the public to report any illegal drug-related activities via the 112 emergency line or the dedicated narcotics tip-line, assuring citizens that all identities will remain strictly confidential in the fight against organized crime.
