Kathua Labour Department Hosts Awareness Program on New Labour Law Reforms

KATHUA, Jan 3: As part of a widespread information and education campaign, the Labour Department of Kathua organized a comprehensive awareness-cum-interactive program on the New Labour Codes today at the SIDCO Complex in Ghatti.

Deputy Labour Commissioner of Jammu, Sukhpal Singh, served as the chief guest, addressing a large gathering of Human Resource professionals from local industrial units and labor contractors. Singh emphasized that the transition to the new legal framework is vital for fostering transparency and improving industrial relations, ensuring that the region’s growth remains balanced and sustainable in a rapidly evolving industrial landscape.

During the technical sessions, experts provided an in-depth overview of the four primary Labour Codes, focusing on their scope and the shift from traditional regulations to modern standards.

Assistant Labour Commissioner Piyusha Khajuria and other officials led discussions on the Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Conditions Code (2020) and the Industrial Relations Code (2020), clarifying provisions related to worker welfare and statutory compliance.

The event concluded with an open-house discussion where stakeholders raised queries and offered suggestions, aimed at ensuring seamless implementation of the reforms to maintain industrial harmony across the Jammu division.
